After months of watching her mother struggle in a care facility, Audrey knew something had to change. The emotional strain of constantly worrying and advocating for her mother’s needs left Audrey exhausted and heartbroken. She had brought up hospice to her siblings earlier, but like many families, they hesitated, believing the misconception that hospice is only for someone “on their deathbed.”

Audrey was grateful for the care Angela Hospice provided for her mother.
Everything shifted when Angela Hospice stepped in.
“They were very patient with us…professional and helped us in this process,” Audrey said.
Audrey began using Angela Hospice’s Home Hospice Care while her mother was still in the skilled nursing facility, and the difference was immediate. Her mother was made comfortable, and Audrey finally felt assured that someone was checking on her frequently with real attentiveness and compassion. For the first time in a long while, Audrey could simply be a daughter again, not a caretaker running from task to task.
When her mother later moved to the Angela Hospice Care Center, Audrey described it as “a five-star hotel.” Her mom’s final room overlooked a sunlit garden with bird feeders, soft music played, her nails were polished beautifully, and the food was amazing. Every detail reflected dignity, gentleness, and respect. Staff were patient, present, and never rushed the family, not even after her mother passed peacefully in her sleep. Audrey and her siblings were given all the time they needed to sit with her, say their goodbyes, and honor her.
Audrey offered her advice for other families wondering if Angela Hospice might help: “Call them. Start as soon as you can.”
Looking back, Audrey’s only regret is not calling sooner. She now urges other families to reach out early, reminding them that hospice doesn’t hasten death, it adds comfort, peace, and meaningful time together.
Today, Audrey shares her story of gratitude to Angela Hospice for giving her mother compassionate care, and for giving her family the gift of presence, peace, and precious final moments together.
