Dr. Michael Stellini

Dr. Michael Stellini is Clinical Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University. He retired in May 2024 from clinical practice. For many years before retirement, he also held several leadership and administrative roles, including leader of the Supportive Care Multi-Disciplinary team at Karmanos Cancer Center, Director of the Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program, and chair of the Detroit Medical Center Adult Central Campus Ethics Committee.

He completed a Primary Care Internal Medicine residency and was appointed Chief Resident at The Cambridge Hospital/Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Dr. Stellini became certified by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine in 2007, prior to the official recognition of the specialty. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Stellini has been recognized multiple times as a “Top Doctor” by Hour Detroit Magazine. He formerly served as director of the Clinical Medicine Curriculum at Wayne State School of Medicine, Director of Palliative Care at Detroit Medical Center Adult Central Campus, and as Chief Medical Officer at Detroit Receiving Hospital.
