Grief Counselor

Reports to: Director of Grief Care Services
Salary: $62,400 annually

We’re looking for a Grief Counselor who shares this vision.
Your Opportunities
Comfort.
- Complete the Bereavement-Risk assessment for each new client during the first counseling session.
- Develop the plan of care for each new client and updates/adjusts the plan of care as needed.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions to children, teens, and adults as clinically appropriate.
- Maintain current documentation in the electronic medical record.
Advocate.
- Utilize existing community resources to better accommodate the needs of clients.
- Participate in community education to promote understanding of grief and issues of bereavement.
Connect.
- Demonstrate knowledge of virtual formats to providing counseling services via Zoom.
- Participate with special events, workshops, and camps for bereaved children, teens, and adults.
- Serve as a field instructor for graduate students, as requested.
Collaborate.
- Work cooperatively with all levels of Angela Hospice Home Care, Inc.
- Attend all mandatory in-services and general staff meetings.
What You Bring
- Graduate of a Master’s program in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
- Current licensure in the State of Michigan, LMSW or LLMSW
- Minimum of one (1) year experience of clinical counseling experience preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year experience of hospice or grief counseling preferred
- Understands hospice philosophy, and issues of death/dying
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills
