Grief Counselor

We’re looking for a Grief Counselor who shares this vision.

Your Opportunities

Comfort.

• Complete the Bereavement-Risk assessment for each new client during the first counseling session.
• Develop the plan of care for each new client and updates/adjusts the plan of care as needed.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions to children, teens, and adults as clinically appropriate.
• Maintain current documentation in the electronic medical record.

Advocate.

• Utilize existing community resources to better accommodate the needs of clients.
• Participate in community education to promote understanding of grief and issues of bereavement.

Connect.

• Demonstrate knowledge of virtual formats to providing counseling services via Zoom.
• Participate with special events, workshops, and camps for bereaved children, teens, and adults.
• Serve as a field instructor for graduate students, as requested.

Collaborate.

• Work cooperatively with all levels of Angela Hospice Home Care, Inc.
• Attend all mandatory in-services and general staff meetings.

What You Bring

• Graduate of a Master’s program in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) 
• Current licensure in the State of Michigan, LMSW or LLMSW
• Minimum of one (1) year experience of clinical counseling experience preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year experience of hospice or grief counseling preferred  
• Understands hospice philosophy, and issues of death/dying
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills
