We’re looking for a Healthcare Facility Cook who shares this vision.

Your Opportunities

  • Prepares, serves, and delivers meals and nourishments according to the daily menu to patient care areas.
  • Maintains clean, sanitary, safe work area, including proper waste disposal on a daily basis.
  • Monitors food supplies to ensure necessary items are available to prepare planned menus and removes outdated items.
  • Maintains proper storage of all food per proper food handling guidelines daily.
  • Maintains nourishment stock in nursing unit and removes outdated items daily.
  • Assists in preparing shopping lists and orders food supplies daily or as needed.
  • Has the ability to be flexible in preparing special foods for patients on short notice.
  • Has the ability to offer alternative meal choices to patients.
  • Has the ability to work well with other employees and as a team member in completing the daily tasks as directed.
  • Demonstrates and facilitates a teamwork approach to kitchen duties.
  • Has the ability to cook a variety of foods in quantities to meet facility requirements.
  • Must know and follow proper food handling, preparation and storage techniques or procedures according to state regulations.
  • Visits patients to monitor acceptance of meals and handles complaints and/or problems.
  • Has the ability to prepare foods for patients who require texture modified diets and therapeutic diets as ordered by the medical staff.
  • Assures that all the kitchen areas are properly cleaned and sanitized at end of each shift.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, culinary certifications preferred
  • Two years of culinary services experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, preparation and storage techniques and knowledge of modified diets, including texture modifications
  • Previous nursing home, hospital, hospice or restaurant and management experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Moderate reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills: in dealing with staff, residents, family members, physicians, etc.
  • Auditory and visual skills
  • Ability to work both cooperatively and independently with little or no supervision is essential
  • Cooperative team member with leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and facility’s rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
