Diane Smith has been a part of the Angela Hospice team since 2018, bringing with her nearly 20 years in spiritual care in the hospice setting. As a member of the Angela Hospice Executive Leadership Team, Diane wears many hats, including Director of Ministry Engagement, Chief Diversity Officer, and directs the African American Church Empowerment Project.
Her work prior to Angela Hospice took her all over the world as a missionary in Japan, working as an English lecturer at Osaka Women’s Junior College; serving as Lead Spiritual Care Advisor for Arbor Hospice; and she was a chaplain at Community Hospice Care in southern California.
Diane, who is an ordained minister, has worked in ministry for over 40 years, holding a Master of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology, and is a board-certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. Currently, she serves on the board of the Interfaith Round Table of Washtenaw County, and is a member of the Equity Task Force of the Michigan Oncology Quality Consortium (MOQC).
