What Makes This Job Unique:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities in the organization. They perform administrative and office support duties for the Director of Supportive Care and the volunteer department. The Volunteer Coordinator is committed to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Angela Hospice and the Felician Franciscan Core Values.
Your Opportunities
- Assists with recruiting and educating volunteers
- Establishes a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team
- Establishes and maintains volunteer plan of care and compliance
- Supervises and evaluates volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner
- Coordinates schedule for clerical volunteers working in other departments
- Maintains current volunteer personnel files
- Coordinates support/education meetings
- Keeps a training manual up-to-date for volunteers
- Attends interdisciplinary group meetings
- Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services
- Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities
- Maintains knowledge of and compliance with current Medicare/Medicaid, state/federal rules and regulations for hospice services
- Ensures compliance with the Medicare conditions of participation and other state regulations that govern the provision of healthcare
- Complies with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements in accordance with federal, state, and organizational policies
- Develps, maintains, and upgrades professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance at seminars, conferences, and participation in continuing education and in-service classes
- Fulfills the obligation of requested and/or accepted assignments
- Supports department operations as directed as well as being assigned to any special projects
- Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the position, but which may be altered based upon the need of the organization
- Meets on-going requirements to remain compliant with Federal/State and/or other regulatory guidelines
- Performs other duties as directed by the President/CEO, Director of Supportive Care, or other assigned designee
What You Bring
- High School diploma required, college degree in human services or related field preferred
- Certification in Volunteer Administration a plus
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in healthcare, hospice experience preferred
- Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services
- Understands hospice philosophy
- Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel
- Ability to manage a group of individuals
