Spiritual Care Coordinator

Reports to: Spiritual Care Supervisor
Starting Rate: $50,000 annually

We’re looking for a Spiritual Care Coordinator who shares this vision.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists Director in formation of staff and volunteers in understanding and living the Angela Hospice Mission – Core Values.
  • Able to work cohesively with other staff members in support of the vision for providing exemplary spiritual care services to patients and families of Angela Hospice.
  • Ability to comfortably enter into a culturally diverse population with an endless range of spiritual and non-religious belief systems.
  • Ministers and supports patients and families in both the Care Center and Home Care, all in accordance with the ongoing wishes of the patient/family.
  • Coordinates spiritual enrichment activities for families and patients.
  • Develops a pastoral care plan, which is based on ongoing assessment and works in collaboration with the local clergy.
  • Assesses patient/family response to spiritual support intervention.
  • Works with other professional staff to resolve spiritual/pastoral/ethical issues (i.e., participates on the Ethics committee).
  • Charts spiritual support visits with patients and families in the Care Center and Home Care.
  • Is available for staff counseling and grief support.
  • Plans and participates in the majority of memorial services.
  • Supports the territories served.
  • Attends monthly general staff meetings and scheduled in-services.
  • Committed to following Resident’s Rights, policies, and procedures.
  • Is a team player committed to providing coverage and support for the Spiritual Care team as required.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Spiritual Care.

What You Bring

  • Degree and/or training or experience in Christian Spirituality; Master’s degree preferred in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies
  • At least 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required
  • Hospice, home health or related organization experience preferred
  • Experience in palliative/hospice care, ministry leadership, counseling, public speaking
  • Ability to provide spiritual care for pediatric patients and families
  • Proficient computer knowledge and skill: Word, Excel, Access all a plus
